Coghlan's Product Description

Coghlans Emergency Tinder contains ten pieces of waterproof tinder that will work even when wet; light with Coghlan's Flint Match or any other flame or spark source.

  • Each piece burns 5-7 minutes; non-toxic and odorless


    • Lighting Instructions

    1. Take a cube of the Tinder and press it firmly from both ends so as to flatten it into approximately the size of a quarter.

    2. Slowly pull the flattened Tinder into two parts The longer and fuzzier the fibers exposed are, the easier it will light. In cold weather the Tinder may be softened by placing it near any warm part of the body.

    3. Do not disturb the fuzzy fibers you have exposed. Press the unfibered ends together with the exposed fibers pointed upwards.

    4. Insure you have sufficient kindling and other fuel at hand to build and sustain the fire after igniting the Tinder.

    5. If using the Flint Match from Coghlan's Tinder Kit, follow the procedures included with the kit. Otherwise use an other flame or spark source. If using a spark source, hold so the sparks will fall on the exposed Tinder fibers.
